Pond Management

The Living Shoreline

CES provides a “living shoreline” with our pond management.  This is achieved by utilizing a minimal amount of herbicide only as needed to control exotic or nuisance plants.  Additionally, we provide manual maintenance on the plants such as weed eating and hand pulling as necessary.  Most other pond maintenance companies provide a chemical only approach.  The advantage in a living shoreline is that plants will compete with algae for food thereby helping to control algae.  Additionally, plants will help in controlling erosion.  Also, if properly managed, a living shoreline is more aesthetically pleasing at all times of year whereas chemical control companies achieve a nice look when the water is high.

Fish Stocking

Fish stocking is integral to communities in Southwest Florida. Overpopulation of certain species in ponds can lead to fish having stunted growth, and algae blooms happening more frequently due to the amount of fish. We stock fish that can deal with these problems, and even have fish that specifically eat algae, among other things.
